The Mares Ultra Adj 82X Regulator is the new top of the line breathing system, combining the traditional advantages of Mares regulators with latest generation technological innovations in an exclusive design. As a result of Mares extensive expertise, they've produced the 82X first stage with a 360° swivel turret and a unique design for the HP Ports (OPD) allowing you to orient the high-pressure hose and/or computer transmitter to your preference, regardless of the first stage position. This offers you total control of your equipment configuration.
The 82X is a balanced diaphragm first-stage, which guarantees reliable, consistent, elite performance at any depth or air pressure supply. The pearl finish chrome plated marine brass first stage regulators balanced diaphragm design is inherently environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance. The first stage also includes the all-new AST anti-flooding system (Auto-Sealing Technology) which safeguards against water intrusion into the first stage, maintaining a dry first stage under all conditions. The flow of gas from the tank activates the AST system automatically without relying on a mechanical solution, ensuring maximum reliability.
The regulator has five 3/8" threaded low-pressure (LP) ports with 4 on a rotating turret for excellent hose routing and a fixed fifth on the end of the turret. Two opposing 7/16" threaded high-pressure (HP) ports allow mounting of a hose-less air integrated computer transmitter and a backup submersible pressure gauge (SPG). The Mares Epic 82X uses tri-material valve technology. This patented technology created to optimize performance, safety and reliability. The valve is covered with a hard polyurethane (PU) and the sealing surface is a layered with a soft PU for a perfect seal. Tri-material (brass, soft PU and heavy-duty" PU) reaches new levels of durability. But the benefits don't stop there.
The Mares Ultra Adjustable Second Regulator has Mares Vortex Assist Design (V.A.D.) system: all Mares second stages offer the unique patented VAD system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low-pressure area in the center this keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, giving very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths. The bypass has undergone a true transformation: 77% increase in flow cross section and double curvature to provide a smoother flow while optimizing performance. For the first time a Mares second stage regulator is equipped with a flow control (Twin Power), managing the delivery rate of gas from natural breathing to power breathing. By rotating the adjustment sleeve on the hose inlet, you can achieve VAD+ performance. Octopus is made of ultralight techno-polymer with a wide pivoting purge button.
This pneumatically assisted designed (P.A.D.) safe second is equipped with an adjustable breathing knob for the ultimate in breathing comfort. Ultra Adj features a breathing resistance control knob on the left side of the regulator. Optimum performance is delivered when the knob is turned all the way out (counterclockwise when looking at the knob). For specific situations in which you require a higher breathing resistance, turn the knob clockwise to add compression to the spring acting on the demand valve. Furthermore, the compact and ergonomic exhaust tee ensures superior hydrodynamic performance and reduced exhalation resistance. The mouthpiece is made of soft hypoallergenic silicone: limiting jaw fatigue and offering a secure fit even after very long dives. Mares developed the Superflex hose after many years of testing and research. The results achieved far surpassed the tests required by EN250. Hose is extremely light weight and exceptionally soft, guaranteeing the maximum freedom of movement and further reducing jaw fatigue. The regulator comes with a Superflex hose that is a 3/8" threaded high flow hose and is 29.5" (75 cm) in length. The regulators total weight is 45.6 oz. (1,292 g) with hose.
